David Huttner was the Head of Commercial for Virgin Blue Australia where he managed the growth strategy domestically and throughout the South Pacific. As one of three founding members of the airline’s top leadership, he helped guide the company to become the most successful IPO in Virgin Group history. His global career spans more than 20 years and covers all areas of the aviation industry from sales and distribution through to product delivery and airline restructuring. Following his decade with the Virgin Group, David was appointed to the board of Vueling at the time of its IPO, and he has since advised some of the world’s leading airlines, airport and industry partners. David provides leadership on a range of projects for Nyras directly relating to strategy, commercial services. Areas of focus include low cost carrier strategies and competitive response, capacity management and slots, as well as airport and airline commercial advisory. Some of his key assignments include: - Leading a team that developed a plan to optimise the strategy and relationship of key partner airlines at a major Gulf Airport - Evaluating strategic acquisition options for a leading aviation industry distribution partner - Overseeing the team that conducted the first phase of restructuring leading up to the significant transformation of airBaltic from a heavily loss-making operator into profitability while placing an industry benchmark aircraft order - Conducting numerous ‘commercial diagnostics’ on both LCCs and Full Service Carriers, identifying significant efficiency and revenue opportunities as well as substantive cost savings on each occasion David graduated from Brown University with a BA in International Relations and holds an MBA from INSEAD in France.
